My Sacred Lotus
The lotus fibre exclusively comes from the Sacred Lotus which provides the softest, most breathable, natural and bright fibre. Lotus Farm uses the best socially responsible manufacturing techniques to create eco fabrics that support women’s empowerment in Cambodia.
Cambodian social business
Based in Cambodia, Lotus Farm is committed to the empowerment of women and to the sustainable development. For several years, Lotus Farm experimented more than ten local natural fibers: lotus, pineapple, banana, water lily, romchek, kapok, papyrus, palm, silk, coconut, waterhyacinth and rice leaves.
Ecological and responsible textile cooperativ
The pink flowers of the Sacred Lotus spread across thousands of bodies of water in Cambodia and are harvested mainly in the morning. The stems are picked by farmers then cleaned to remove spines and impurities before being entrusted to the spinners. These carefully cut all around the stems whose ends are stretched to extract the fibers. 12 layers of fibers are meticulously superposed and rolled to produce a regular high quality yarn. A precise and tedious process since the manufacture of a jacket requires 4 meters of fabric, or 12,000 meters of fibers and 2 months of work for a spinner. It can only be done by hand, which explains the rarity of the fabric.

Awen Delaval welcomes us to a large house that serves as a shop, workshop, and tea room. A few kilometers south of Siem Reap, the view from the terrace is breathtaking: the imposing mass of Phnom Krom rivals the delicate lotus plants that spread out below.
The Lotus Farm of Siem Reap
Just 15 minutes from Siem Reap lies the Lotus Farm, a place where lotus fiber is produced for making clothing. In this article, Pascal Médeville recounts his visit to this farm where you can watch women spinning lotus fibers.
Lotus Farm, the revival of the textile adventure
The lotus, a plant whose flower symbolizes purity in Buddhist culture, sees its potential unfold like so many petals under the impetus of the Samatoa brand. It's a new path emerging in the textile industry, a quest for fabrics of excellence with social and environmental responsibility as its guiding principle.
